☆ Olloclip 3 in 1 Lens ☆

Hey peeps today Im going to be sharing my thoughts of the Olloclip 3 in 1 lens with you. Now when these first came out they where very expensive, well around £70 and staying around that price, after becoming a keen photographer with my dslr I really wanted a macro lens but they are so pricey and I would not be using that lens all the time, so I thought Id get the olloclip for my macro needs, I came across an epic find on ebay and ended up winnging a Olloclip in red for my iphone 5 for £24 delivered ! I know amazing bargain you just gotta love ebay :)

So it arrived within a couple of days and was brand new and packaged. When I first removed it form its packaging I was quite impressed with the quality of the small product, how nice it looked in the metalic red. So you have 2 sides to the lens, on one side (the large one) is the fish eye lens and on the other side is two lenses, the top one is the wide angle and when you unscrew that one it reveals the macro lens beneath. All three lenses are really impressive the wideangle is great for landscape and those awkward portrait shots when trying to squeze loads of people in to the frame. The fish eye is just fun! especially for taking silly pictures of your pets. My fav though as got the be the macro lens, its just awesome at close ups, as you know Im a lego geek and I love doing macros of my lego figures and other geeky gadegts tech I have in the office.

I can honeselty say that I would of paid the full price for this device it is just great! can be fiddley to unscrew lens cap with one hand but still, to have a range of those 3 lenses whilst on the go is just brilliant in my opinion.

So let me share with you some of my shots taken with the olliclip, Im sorry that there are loads of macro its just I LOVE macro photography, there isnt any wide angles to show you but the name kind of explains what you get. So please see below for my macro and fish eye shots using the Ollilcip on my iphone 5

Iphone 5 VS Galaxy S3

First of all a big Hello ! wow sorry not posted in yonks been very busy with my photography work lately and my blogging did drop so sorry about that. However I have got plenty to update you geeks with so make sure you stay tuned !

So today I am going to be comparing the Iphone 5 with the Galaxy S3.
Now I have always been an ultimate Apple fan ever since I got my iphone 3G years ago, i loved it and continued to upgrade to everything Apple announced and released. I love how all my Apple devices work flawlessly with each other too.

Recently other smart phones have upped there game and when the galaxy S3 was announced it looked amazing and so did the specs. I must of gone in to stores twice a week playing on the device wondering if its time to test another smart phone out (knowing full well i would still not sell my iPhone)

Back in november I nearly bought the S3 but again changed my mind just thought I would get bored of it, well last week I was truly becoming bored with the ios on my iphone 5, it just lacks customisation and fun ! and I wanted to change things, themes, widgets and play around. I thought lets go for it! lets go test out the Galaxy S3 properly! After bringing it home I quickly set up my google account and added my necessity apps to the device such as Facebook, twitter, instargam , sky news, and flickr. I then added my mail (mac address) and yeah that took some google research to get the settings right.

Once I had some of my fave apps on there i could start using it properly and determine if the S3 was as cool as its made out to be!

First impressions
The lovely large screen for viewing videos was a pleasure to  look at, but that comes with disadvantages too, when the handset is in portrait mode and held in one hand its very hard to navigate now some peeps may have long thumbs and easily reach the four corners of the handsets screen no problems but me with my mini thumbs struggled and I loved how I can navigate my iphone 5 one handed.
Also within seconds of playing on the handset the quality of the screen is nothing compared to the iphone5's retina display, the iphone5 is brighter crisper and just flawless when viewing simple text or quality photos and video, so as much as the S3 was fun to play with the screen quality did let it down and I kept looking back at my crisp iphone 5 screen quality.

OS
Now I'm not a lover of android, I much prefer ios I just wish apple would improve there Ios and customise it, however the last time I had an adroid handset was about 6 years ago so I have to admit the android jelly bean was a smooth os to navigate. The apps store or play store as they call it is full of apps and I could match nearly all the apps on my iPhone on the S3 and it was nice to see things much cheaper or free, but thats not a major biggy for me everyones here to make money you cant call app developers for putting a price on things, would you work for free?

Battery
The battery on many smart phones these days is poor and most probably will need charging daily, the iphone 5 is no exception, its battery is poor and even more so on the iphone 5. I was quite impressed with the S3 battery it was played on a lot within the first few days and stored a decent percentage by the end of the night still.

Quality
The roundness of the back of the S3 makes it so snug in your palm, where as the iphone 5 is square and rather thick compared the the s3, I don't know about you lot but I still prefer the iphone 3g and 3gs curved back design and wish apple will change the shape in the near future.

The S3 feels cheap and plasticky in your hand where as the word Quality just shouts out when holding an iphone imo, I just love the build quality and materials used to make apple products they just look flawless!
The S3 is unbelievably light! you would think with the size of the handset it would be quite heavy but nope its not.

Camera
The camera was pretty impressive and although it has a 8mp same as the iphone 5 the overall picture quality is poorer due to the colour and no retina display.
Now being a BIG instagram user I downloaded some apps I customise my pics with on my iphone 5 and installed them on the S3, now on my iphone 5 I usually use 2 or sometimes 3 different editing apps before posting my image to instragram and it still holds its same crisp quality. Now on the S3 I only used one editing app to add text to a picture and then posted it to instragram from the S3 and the quality was awful! now this is probably a software fault maybe the app or possibly android I dont know but that alone was the biggest put off for me, I love my instagram posting and want my pictures to stay good quality no matter what editing process they may go through. So bare this in mind instagrammers!

Sync with Mac
Being a Apple device user my concern was how hard it would be to transfer my data over to the S3 from my iMac, but it wasn't as bad as I thought, I used the Android file transfer software and you just drag and drop your media in to the relevant folders, still not as easy and as smooth as an itunes sync though.

Final Verdict
Within less than 24 hours I knew this phone was not living up to my expectations and I was itching to get using my iphone 5 again...which I am! I returned the Galaxy S3 and will remember this experience for some time!

If you are an Apple user and feeling a bit lost in the basic ios then please keep all of the above in mind before taking the plunge because you may regret it.
If you have a 4s or higher then I don't think the S3 will really impress you and you will miss your Apple device, but then again I know people who have gone from iphone to s3 and LOVED it so each to there own I suppose.

If you think about it Apple are being very sensible! everyone was wondering why on earth the iphone 5 was taller but not wider and thats because you can navigate it so easy with one hand still, so although the shape may not be to everyones taste it is a sensible design!
Also Im constantly moaning about the basic ios lately but thats because Apple want there product to sell to a larger range of ages! my 22 month old daughter can work it and as done for ages! I know a gentleman who is in his 80's and loves his iphone and imac and how they all work together flawlessly. So Apple are sticking to a simple layout to meet the needs of more customers. Lets just hope a few new tweaks to ios will appear in the near future just to keep up with more complex operating systems!

Im super excited to hear about up and coming products and software from Apple at this years WWDC in June, theres even rumours that Apple are possibly working on a watch too.

Well I hope my review was helpful and if you have any questions please leave a comment.

 Apple Event Announced 12th Sep ~ Iphone 5 

Wahooooo that time as finally arrived, Apple are about to hold there annual event on the 12th September, which should introduce to the world a new iPhone!, the iphone 5 which infact would actually be the 6th generation iPhone should be announced and a release date given.

If rumours and leaked pictures are true, we will be about to see an iphone thats much taller yet no wider, different design to the rear of the handset, higher gb, improved camera specs, 4g and slimmer design, however all will be revealed shortly and we will knbow the exact specs for sure!

Im hoping we have some kind of shape and design change Im not a big fan of the iphone 4/4s shape and prefered the rounder back, so hoping for a more snug fit in the hand! also we already know about
i os 6 but Im thinking theres some additional features that we havent been told about that will make the next generation iphone a ultimate must have.

There are also alot of speculation that a mini ipad will be announced too, Im not quite sure about that as I think the iPads are doing fine and there is no need for a smaller ipad device to be introduced.

I will be watching a live feed of the event and will be posting my thoughts and opinions and excitement on twitter, feel free to follow if you like right here and stay tuned for my blog post of the iphone 5 announcement to hear the full specs and my thoughts on the new gadget.

Are you super excited!? will you be upgrading to the new iPhone?

★ ☆ HoverBar by Twelve South ★ ☆

Hey peeps, today I am going to be reviewing the HoverBar from Twelve south, this cool little gadget was spotted by myself on the application fancy (i love browsing away on that!) and I just had to get one. Basically its a flexible mount that attaches to the back of your imac or thunderbolt display so you have dual screen!. Great for watching a movie whilst your working on your imac or having easy view of your twitter feed rather than taking up space on your desktop and having to minimise windows.

When I received my new hoverBar I was surprised about how well presented the packing was, really nice box it came in that can be used for so many things afterwards rather than throwing away! In the box you get the following items: Ipad display clip, silicone pad, washer, hoverbar arm, cable manage clips, Allen wrench and a two way mounting clamp
You also get an instructions leaflet that also gives you 12 cool ways to re-purpose use the hoverbar box which I though was really cool.

The instructions are really easy and within 5 minutes my iPad was attached to my imac with this super cool device.

Please go check out my youtube video review here!
Dont forget to like, and subscribe! :)

Advantages: Quality device, parts and packaging

Disadvantages: Cant honestly give one, although It would be cool to bring it down in price but you pay for what you get and this is a quality device

Nikon P510 Camera Review ♥

Why hello my geeks and may I start by apologising for my lack of blogging commitment, been super busy with work, spending time with family and testing out my new toy!

That's right I decided I wanted to take my photography to the next level, I have captured some sweet shots on my iphone 4s and wanted a more professional camera to take my hobby to the next level.

Well after nearly a weeks worth of research of what camera to get I opted for a bridge camera ( In between compact and dslr) Bridge camera's offer more professional features than a compact but are not as advanced as a dslr. I decided I better not run before I can walk and chose a bridge camera first. So then the big question was which bridge! I was torn between 3 models the Canon Power Shot SX40 HS, Sony Cyder-Shot HX200V and the Nikon Coolpix P510. I ended up choosing the Nikon after hearing great reviews from other Nikon users and it being one of the main brands who specialise in camera's, but I would be lying if the 42 x zoom didn't add that extra persuasion..that's right a whopping 42 x zoom! I have seen youtube videos of people zooming in on craters on the moon with this device! and with the P510 not being a dslr meaning no changeable lenses, having a set 42 x zoom is a great advantage.

I purchased the Nikon P510 from Amazon one of my fav gadget / tech on line suppliers, they had a cracking offer on at £299 knocked down from £399! I also bought a 32GB storage card for £25.
My new toy came the next day as I'm a prime customer and I could not wait to get it out of the box and play !!

First reactions:
Considering the device is so light weight I was shocked at how quality it still felt in my hands, it has a bulky yet attractive ;) body and it fits more than comfortably in my hands. within 10 minutes of playing with the menu layout I was aware of what I needed to do and what effects and features the camera had to offer, I also scanned through the manual which was so simple and within no time was using the correct feature for certain shots

Advantages:
The main advantages in my opinion of getting the Nikon P510 is the amazing 42 x Zoom no other bridge camera offers this high zoom and to get any where close to this using a dslr you would have to purchase about £5000 worth of camera and lenses.
Light weight and so user friendly
The P510 also supports HD video recording which is great too and will get used just as much as the camera feature

Disadvantages:
Sometimes takes a little time to focus but given time and accuracy this camera can create some great photography
Battery life is not amazing so I would advise you to pick up an extra battery so you can take two out with you on trips out, these can be purchased from amazon and eBay for approx £10

Over all:
I have a professional camera that is super user friendly and easy to use and light weight for taking out and about, and most importantly I got it all for a reduced bargain price of £299, so overall I am very happy with my purchase, who knows if the photography hobby takes to an higher level then I may invest in a more advanced dslr in the future.

Do you have a compact, bridge or dslr camera you highly recommend or do you also have the Nikon P510 if so what are your thoughts?

Here are some first attempts on my Nikon P510
